Introduction to the IT Capstone Program

Welcome to George Mason University’s Information Sciences and Technology Capstone Program. The purpose of the sequence of IT Capstone courses is to provide a high-impact, culminating element of an undergraduate education, helping students develop a more comprehensive and integrative understanding of Information Technology and utilize critical thinking.

  • The Capstone Program is designed to allow students to work with their local communities by solving real-world business problems for organizations in need of Information Technology solutions.
  • The Capstone project consists of multifaceted assignments that serve as a culminating academic and intellectual experience for students. The capstone project is designed to consolidate final-year students’ learning with valuable hands-on experience to help develop students into well-prepared and well-rounded graduates.
  • In the IT Capstone project students work together in small groups to produce innovative solutions for real-life problems, all while gaining valuable insights into the demands and responsibilities of the working world. This course provides the opportunity to bring your leadership and management skills alive and understand your decisions in a growth mindset environment.
  • At the end of each course, the students will present their semester’s work to a panel of professionals. This final presentation is the opportunity to fine-tune your presentation skills and boast your academic skills to a professional audience.
