Health Informatics Associated Faculty
Health informatics research at IST focuses on extracting meaningful insights from a wide array of health data sources, including electronic health records, wearable devices, social media, online support communities, structured databases, and blogs.
Our work advances the design of innovative health systems and enhances our understanding of disease outbreaks, progression patterns, and patient health outcomes, behaviors, and communication. With the goal of improving healthcare delivery and decision-making, IST researchers develop tools and methods that empower physicians, healthcare professionals, patients, and their support networks to effectively access, interpret, and apply health data.
Our research spans key areas such as electronic health records, wearable technology, medical imaging, social media mining, assistive and accessible technologies, and patient-doctor communication. We employ methods including natural language processing, machine learning, temporal modeling, and user-centered design to build systems that bridge the gap between data and care.

Concentrate in Data Analytics and Intelligence Methods (DAIN) to develop the skills needed to turn complex health data into actionable insights that improve care, communication, and clinical decision-making.
